FAQ

How does electrolysis work?

A very fine, disposable, sterile probe the size of the diameter of the hair is inserted into the hair follicle. A minute amount of current is then applied to destroy the germinative cells that cause the hair to grow. Since each hair is treated individually, electrolysis is a process that requires a series of treatments to achieve the desired clearance.

Will electrolysis work on my skin type?

Electrolysis works on all skin types, skin tones and hair color, including white and blonde hairs.

Do electrolysis treatments hurt?

Electrolyis treatments can be described as a warm, tingling sensation.  The amount of discomfort varies from individual to individual and with the area being treated. Some areas of the body are more sensitive. Most clients find the treatments tolerable and the discomfort minimal.

Are there any side effects to treatment with electrolysis?

Side effects are minimal.  After treatment, you may have some redness and slight swelling.  This is normal and should dissipate within 24 hours. It is important to follow the post care instructions to ensure optimal healing.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments necessary will vary depending on the client, their hair type, the area being treated and the amount of hair present. It is impossible to know in advance how many treatments will be required for a particular person. Due to the cyclical nature of hair growth, several treatments per area may be required to achieve a permanent effect. Factors such as hair growth cycles, the quantity and type of hair, use of hair removal methods, heredity, hormone function, certain medications and stress influence the treatment program for each individual.  It is important to adhere to the recommended treatment plan to achieve optimal results.
